Photoshoot

First of all I took this photo for my A'level Portraiture project. I thought I'd add this because I think the colours and the contrast on the image are sharp and graphic.
To start of with I used face paint on my brother and turned him into a character of a clown, I painted this after but I thought the photograph looks better.

Embossed prints

These are embossed prints I made. The one on the left is of Marilyn Monroe. First of all I inked up a metal plate then I got a piece of thin paper and gently placed it on top, with a pen I started drawing my image. On the second piece, again I inked up a metal plate but placed material and fabric on top, then placed my paper on top and used the presser to get my final piece.

Observational Drawings

In our observational drawing classes we had to draw plants. First we had to focus into a part of the plant and do a quick line drawing of the plant, not taking pencil of the paper then (on the above) we had to start again but not as quick. It was a new technical experience of drawing.

Research and Sample work

These two pages are about my research and samples I have done. It is related to a brief we have been given on everyday objects. The objects I chose are a butterfly necklace (on the right page) and perfume bottles. We have to create a outcome in our pathway from these objects. So on these two pages I researched textile artists and looked at some of their work that was graphic including Tilke Scwharz. The page on the right shows how I experimented by hand sewing and machine sewing over photocopies of some of my objects, I used thread and string going around the outlines of my objects.

Collograph Prints

This is a collograph and print I made using the sketches I did on our visit to Robin Hoods Bay. I cut out card in the shapes of my houses I sketched and stuck them onto the collograph, I left spaces in between them so when I printed it, it would transfer. I used different coloured oil paints and used a cloth to rub it onto the surface making sure I filled in the gaps. Then I used the presser to transfer my print, on the right is one of my final outcomes.

Photography-Cities

These photographs were taken in India. They show culture and are vibrant that is why I chose them. They both show two different elements, one that is not that busy and one that is really busy. Again they both have a focal point where they all join together to appeal to the eye.

Photography-Buildings

These two digital photographs are separate photographs. The one on the left was taken at Pickering rail station, I thought the way the rail track curved round the bend of the platform  made a focal point to image as your eyes follow the track then to the bridge then to the building of the wall, like a triangle.
The photo on the right is at Sheffield rail station. I thought the brick work on the building looked very rough so I made the photograph black and white to create a different contrast.

Portraiture oil paintings

These oil paintings I did are from A'level. My project was on portraiture and caricature.
So I made my own version and I got my friends to make faces and painted them. I used a clear background and took a shoulder length shot. I wanted to make it look realistic.

Ceramic Vase

This is also another ceramic piece I made of a vase. I used clay and different coloured slip casts, coloured pigments and used a carving knife  to create the patterns on the vase. The designs are linked to a textile piece of art we created using carrier bags.
I think the pattern on the vase is detailed with a lot of striking colours.

Ceramic Pebble

This is another piece of work from my foundation course. I made a ceramic pebble by making two semi domes of clay and slip casting them together then i painted my designs on them from my tissue paper ideas (on the right and left of pebble) from Robin Hoods bay, then i glazed my pebble and had it fired to create the shiny effect. I think these designs are very graphic and the colour schemes go well together.

My own T-shirt designs

These T-shirt designs are from my Foundation course i am doing now. I created them by hand and on Photoshop. I got my inspiration from a visit we went to in Robin Hoods Bay. On this piece of work i made my ideas from different materials including ink, charcoal, photographs and Photograms, i did my final touches on Photoshop.
I hand made the tag on top of the t-shirt designs, i thought that this could become the label on the product.

Patagonia T-Shirt sketches

I had been set a brief to create t-shirt designs for Patagonia. I looked into Patagonia and about it's welfare and promotions and found out that they are very economical. I looked at some of their recent T-shirt designs and they were very simple and outgoing.
So i began to produce my own sketches (above). Number 2, for example, is of a light bulb and says 'Kill the lights' i wanted to create a sense of humour, I added colour to help them stand out and added annotations so i can understand what is happening.

Net of Shoe packaging

I also added this. It is a net of a shoe packaging idea that i created in A'level.
This is a different design but i think the vibrant colours and blocking appeal to the eye.
I designed lots of different types of nets and then hand made mini versions of them, I thought they all worked out well.

Shoe packaging idea

This is another Graphic Design piece from A'level. This brief was about shoe packaging, i looked at different types of packaging and ideas and got my inspiration from an illustrator called Gary Newman. I used my own techniques of finding new ways to create ideas. On this one i took a photo of my shoe and a bracelet and placed them on a background i created, i think the colours and composition work really well together.

Album Cover

This is one of my Graphic Design pieces from A'level.
This piece of work is from a brief where i had to create a CD cover for our own song choice.
I looked at several illustrators and designers and got my influences from them.
Here one of my influences is from an illustrator called Aasha.
