Experimenting with the letter 'M' in CaslonPro!

For my poster brief I had to experiment with my given letter 'M' in the typeface Caslon Pro.
It was very exciting and I loved experimenting and coming out with these outcomes!

My poster for St.Brides library typeface exhibition!

This is my final poster design for St.Brides library of a Caslon Pro typeface exhibition.
I felt this brief went by very quickly but I liked my concept behind my design. looking back at it now I could make a few amendments to make it look better visually.

"When in doubt, use Caslon"

Lovely quote from Caslon, I was going to use it in my poster but think it's better if I come up with one of my own.

Adobe Caslon Pro by Marius Holtman

I came across this when I researching ideas for my poster for St.Brides brief.
It is a poster to advertise Adobe Caslon pro by Marius Holtman a Graphic Designer from Norway.
I love the idea of a Caslon pro family!

Contemporary Architecture - Type - cut and paste, final on in-design

My first cut and paste layout of type for The RIBA Stirling prize award 2011 brief, in In-design.

Exhibition - The particle

These are photographs from an exhibition i went to in October for my contextual practice studies.
‘The particle’ by Alex Posada is an exhibition on a kinetic sculpture that reveals an illusion through light, colour, movement and sound.

Visual Expression - our modernist practitioner Edward Hopper

These pics are of our sculpture we had to make based on Edward Hopper a modernist practitioner.
Edward Hopper was born in New York, he was a American painter whose works are landmarks of American realism, his paintings characterized, isolation melancholy and loneliness.

We created our sculpture on him, based 'Time square'. We made 'Time Square' a lonely isolated place. At one side of the sculpture is Hoppers paintings and some of our quotes for his work, and on the other side is a lonely man sat on a bench that represents one of his etchings called 'night in the park'.

We decided to add fairy lights  to create an ambiance of time square.
The sculpture was hit for us!

Visual Expression - The Secret life of my object

“Hello, I am a key ring I own five keys at the moment, which belong to my owner and they all open certain possessions that lead to many discoveries. And I have two extra memorable attachments that signify my owner.
To begin with I am going to explain what keys I have on my rings.
I have a key that opens the locker in my owner’s workplace, another which opens the padlock to the gate of my owner’s back garden, which leads to the backdoor key that is also on my ring. I have a small key that opens the lock to my owner’s bike and another key that does not get used much, moving on, my recent attachment is the key that opens my owners new home here in Lincoln.”

Visual Expression - Sandwich board!

Working in groups again, we had to design a sandwich board promoting different responses (one negative and one positive to a social/political issue.
Our issue was based on "should the elderly give up their homes for the new generation", here are our views.
We got praised for using our brains and not just the internet :)

Visual Expression - my left hand drawing of a tea cup, with my eyes closed, oh yeh!

Another visual expression session, where we had to draw a tea cup with our left hand, our eyes shut, in 30 secs, we was all amused by our outcomes.

Visual Expression - Listening to various types music and creating art!

I loved this task.
We had to make make marks on a page that related to the different types of music we had to listen to. We was in a group of four and could use any art materials to create our marks, i chose to work with a scalpel and ink, every time the music changed we had to swap pages, in the group and materials to create a different look, this was our final outcome.

Visual Expression - Group task, sculpture on us...

one of our first projects in Visual expression was to create a sculpture about ourselves in our group.
We decided to create a tree that had flowers that explained different aspects of us.
The pop-out (second photo) is our representation of a flower,
we chose to add this because we thought it would be fun and
it would engage our Graphic Design group.

The tutors loved the idea!
